The Difference Between Beard Oil, Beard Balm, and Beard Butter

The Difference Between Beard Oil, Beard Balm, and Beard Butter

So you've grown out your facial hair and you have now been presented products for this new accessory on your face:
Beard Oil
Beard Butter
Beard Balm

If you've been in our shop, these are all products that you have probably walked past but never considered.  Or maybe you use one of these, but not the others, and you want to expand your beard care routine.  Today, we will explain the function of each product and hopefully answer any questions you may have about them.

Beard Oil:
Beard oil's primary function is to moisturize your beard hair and the skin underneath.
Consistency: Oil in a bottle.
To use: drizzle oil onto your beard brush, and brush throughout your beard hair.

Beard Balm:
Beard Balm's primary function is to really tame the fly away hairs.  It won't harden in your beard, and will feel soft! But it gives you hold and control and keeps stray hairs in place to help the shape of your beard.
Consistency: Thick. A Balm often contains beeswax which will explain the thick, sticky, more solid texture.
To use: use your thumbnail, tiny spoon, or guitar pick to scoop some out and apply to problem areas

Beard Butter:
Beard Butter is really the best of both worlds.  Often it will have ingredients such as shea butter or coconut oil making it a little bit softer.  This soft consistency will moisturize your beard like the Beard Oil, but because it is thicker than oil, it will have the tiniest bit of hold as well! Not near as much hold has a Beard Balm, but good for the overall shape of your beard.  It's like "beard oil plus."
Consistency: Like "buttah!" Thickness will be somewhere between oil and balm.
To use: Very easy application. It has a lower melting point so it warms in your hands and you apply by rubbing it in with your hands and fingers.

Do I need to really use all three products?
You can... but first things first, start with a Beard Oil and then, if you need some more help, add a Beard Balm or Beard Butter. It just depends on how much control you need! You don't necessarily need to be using all three, but there's no harm in using them all together either.
