This two piece brass object is both a 40 year calendar and a compass, the calendar portion being the lid to protect the compass. These have always been very popular in our shop as graduation gifts!
The calendar lets you calculate the day of the week for any given future date, within a 40-year span. To use, simply rotate the dial until the selected year lines up with the selected month. Locate the particular date and find the day of the week above it.
